The "Oil On Ice" party was excellent! We had a good crowd and a good time! The younger kids learned about different types of energy and enjoyed the short version of the documentary that showed the beauty of the Artic National Wildlife Refuge. We all enjoyed checking out the hybrid vehicle. And the older group enjoyed the full-length documentary. Afterwards, those who were inspired to do so wrote letters or signed the group poster board letter to our senators asking them to please protect the Artic National Wildlife Refuge against oil drilling. Thanks to all who attended.

Compassionate Kids founder and leader of the Georgia Chapter, Kelly Palmatier, spoke about different types of energy.

Sheri Stewart Mann, at whose co-housing community room the event took place, spoke about co-housing.

Ted Jackson, Chair of the
Atlanta Group Sierra Club, brought his hybrid vehicle to show and tell.

Helen Cox, leader of the Sierra Student
Coalition's National Arctic Campaign, spoke about the Gwich'in indigenous people.

The Toyota Prius is a hybrid vehicle that uses electricity and gasoline alternately.

The crowd checks out the vehicle that gets an average of 45 to 55 miles per gallon.

The battery recharges every time the brakes are used, so it never has to be plugged in.

After the presentation, many people wrote letters or signed the poster to our senators.
