The first official Compassionate Kids event is a canned food drive and field trip event to benefit the Five Loaves & Two Fish Food Pantry of Griffin, Georgia. (See directions below.) All interested children, parents, and educators are invited.

Prior to the October 29th event, children are encouraged (but not required) to collect canned food in their neighborhoods. (View and print the flyers we created just for this purpose.)

At 4:00 PM (please arrive early!), the manager of the food pantry, Mr. Eddie Whitlock, will speak to the group about what a food pantry is and the role it plays in society. He will also talk about some interesting information about how many people are served by this particular organization, etc.

Together We CanAt 4:30 PM, a group photo will be taken of all the Compassionate Kids present. Costumes are optional. As part of an annual "Together We Can" event, children donating at least 10 cans of non-perishable food items will also receive a certificate for a free portrait with Rick Blackshear Photography that afternoon or evening (before 7:00 PM) in his studio a few blocks away.

The festivities will carry on until 6:00 PM. There will be a couple of compassion-oriented arts & crafts activities, snacks & drinks, a Compassionate Kids information table, and two moonwalks - one full-sized and one for toddlers. Special thanks to Fun Factory Amusements for the donation of the large moonwalk for this event.

Not in this area? Consider collecting canned food items and donating them to a food bank close to you. (View and print the flyers we created just for this purpose.) Even better, contact us for information about starting another local chapter of Compassionate Kids.
