Field Trip to Animal Ark

Animal Ark is the largest no-kill animal shelter run in the Twin
Cities. They rescue dogs, cats, and rabbits and socialize them,
if need be, to be adopted.

The
shelter is located in Hastings, which is about 30 minutes from
the
Twin Cities area. The leader of the Local Minnesota Chapter of
Compassionate Kids, Diana Tallent, has arranged for small groups
to tour the shelter two or three families at a time, due to
space constraints, starting at 4:00 PM Monday November 15. There
must be at least one adult for every three children that attend.
They have also set a minimum age requirement of 8 years and the
cost of the tour will be $5 per person, though any further
monetary donations or donations from the following list of
needed items would be most welcome:

no later than Wednesday, November 10. This will allow her to
inform the shelter of the expected number of attendees. Please
bring your cash donation in an envelope (exact change, please)
labeled with your family name so she can simply collect
everyone's money and hand it over without having to make change.
Please arrive by 3:50 PM so we will not delay the tour schedule.
DIRECTIONS
From the southern suburbs area: Take I-494 east to Hwy 61 and go
south through Hastings. Veer left onto Hwy. 316, then shortly
take a left onto Spiral Blvd. Within a few blocks, take a left
onto Industrial Ct. The shelter is at the end of the cul-de-sac
on the left side of the road.

needs directions from an alternate starting point, they can call
the shelter's automated answering system at 651.772.8983. Please
bring this phone number with you in case you get lost and need
to call for directions.
